Keyboard shortcuts

The following is a list of keyboard shortcuts for frequently used commands. To see if a shortcut exist for a command that you use, click the menu under which the command is located. The shortcut is listed beside the command.

Command definitions

File menu
Command name Description
Open Opens the selected message.
Close Closes the active window.
Save Saves the information contained in the current window. Messages are automatically saved in the Outbox.
Save As Text Saves a message as a text file.
Import Address Book Imports an address book from Eudora Pro and Eudora Light, Claris Emailer, or Netscape Navigator.
Export Address Book Exports the address book. The exported address book is a text file that can be modified.
Page Setup Changes the page setup for printing.
Print Prints the current message.
Print One Copy Prints one copy of the current message, bypassing the Print dialog box.
Quit Closes all open windows and closes the program.

Edit menu
Command name Description
Undo Undoes the last action.
Cut Removes the current selection and copies it onto the Clipboard.
Copy Copies the current selection onto the Clipboard.
Paste Inserts the contents of the Clipboard into the selected location.
Clear Removes the current selection without copying it onto the Clipboard.
Select All Selects all the text or objects in the current window.
Delete Deletes the selected mail message, address book entry, or folder.
Find Opens the Find dialog box.
Address Book Opens the address book menu. This command is only available when the Address Book window is open.
New User Creates a new user entry in your address book.
New Group Creates a new user entry in your address book.
Edit User/Group Opens an edit dialog box for the selected user or group.
Add Sender to Address Book Adds the name and e-mail address of the sender of the current message to the address book.
Columns Turns the columns in the Mail, News Messages, Address Book, and User Group windows on or off.
Switch User Changes the current user.
Filters Sets automatic tasks for incoming mail and news messages.
Preferences Changes the preferences for Internet Mail and News.
Toolbars Turns the toolbars at the top of each window on or off.
Tool Tips Turns the tool tips for the buttons on the toolbars on or off.
Formatting Toolbar Turns the formatting toolbar in the new message window on or off.

Message menu
Command name Description
New Mail Message Opens a new mail message.
New Newsgroup Message Opens a new newsgroup message.
Enclosures Adds or removes message enclosures.
Add Signature Adds your signature to a message.
Finish Later Stores an unfinished mail message in the Outbox, but marks it so that it will not be sent.
Character Set Changes the character set used to display the current message. The character sets displayed in italic are not available. You must have an Apple Language Kit to use this feature.
Unscramble (ROT13) Decodes a news message so that it can be read.
Reply To Sender/Author Opens a reply message to the sender of a mail or news message.
Reply To All/Newsgroup Opens a reply message to all the recipients of a mail message or a newsgroup.
Forward Opens a copy of the current message, ready to be addressed and sent.
Redirect Opens a copy of the current message, ready to be addressed and sent, but retains the original name in the From box.
Previous Shows the previous message.
Next Shows the next message.
Move Message To Moves the selected message(s) to the selected folder.
Filter Message With Applies a filter to the selected message.
Mark As Read Marks the current message as read.
Mark As Unread Marks the current message as unread.
Show Unread Only/Show All Messages Displays the unread messages only or displays all messages.

Mail menu
Command name Description
New Mail Folder Creates a new mail folder.
Rename Mail Folder Renames a mail folder.
Compact Folder Deletes any unused space in the selected folder.
Account Lists the e-mail accounts set up for the current user.
Receive Mail Downloads new mail from the mail server.
Send/Post Message(s) Places the message in the Outbox, or sends it to the mail server depending on the Preferences setting.
Save Enclosure Opens a menu of message enclosures. Choosing one will either save it to your computer or start a helper application, depending on the Preferences setting.

News menu
Command name Description
Server Lists the servers set up for the current user.
Download Complete Newsgroup List Downloads the newsgroup list from the news server.
Download Updates To List Only Downloads only the newsgroups that have been added to the list.
Go To Newsgroup Downloads the news messages in a newsgroup.
Show Complete Newsgroup List Displays the entire list of newsgroups.
Select Newsgroup List Selects all the newsgroups in the list.
Get Next 500 Subjects Downloads the next 500 subjects from a newsgroup. The number depends on what you have set in Preferences; 500 is the default value.
Add Newsgroup To Favorites Adds a newsgroup to your favorites list.
Remove Newsgroup From Favorites Removes a newsgroup from your favorites list.
Go To Favorites Newsgroups Displays newsgroups you have subscribed to.
Extract Binaries Downloads attachments from news messages.
